Summerfield Maternity Photography
Katherine & Alexander
The Gardens at Gray Gables
I’m not sure which is more beautiful. The joining of two lives in marriage, or the blossoming of their love in the form of children. Being a maternity photographer allows me to see and capture that beauty. And I am so grateful for that.
Knowing Katherine for a long time, I was honored when she came to me requesting maternity photos. Equally exciting was hearing about the exciting new adventures she and her husband will soon be embarking on. An overseas assignment! Knowing their time was short in the States, I wanted to give them beautiful images of not only this time in their life, but also a little taste of home.
The Gardens at Gray Gables
Choosing a beautiful setting for their session was easy. The Gardens at Gray Gables in Summerfield North Carolina. The lush grounds and abundance of little nooks for photos made it the obvious choice. The venue is, in a word, stunning. Equally noteworthy is the serenity of this beautiful place. I love it when a couple can relax and take candid photos. The feeling of a session will come through clearly in images, so I try to make a couple as relaxed as possible.
Maternity Photography Wardrobe Tip:
Katherine did such a good job putting together their outfits. I love how she combined two prints and made the look effortless. When preparing for a maternity session, follow Katherine’s look by having the more pronounced pattern on the mother, and the more subdued pattern on the husband. That not only brings the eye to the mother (who is the star of a Maternity session!) but also subtly focuses on the baby. I also really love how Alexander’s shirt appears to be a solid from a distance, but its not until the camera is zoomed in, that you can see his shirt actually has a subdued print. That allows for the image to be a bit more visually interesting, and adds texture to the image.
Good luck to you Alexander & Katherine! I wish you all the best on this exciting new adventure!
