Winston Salem Engagement Session

This fun Old Salem engagement session is so special to me. It’s special to me for many reasons including the fact that I taught Rachael’s 5th grade Sunday school class! Wow, I am old. This engagement session is also special because Rachael’s family were my very first clients. The first people who trusted me to take their photographs and I will ever be grateful to them for believing in me and my little Canon Rebel camera. I have upgraded several times since that first shoot, don’t worry haha.

Another reason this session is so special to me is the mere fact that the Collins family have been such wonderful friends through the years. It has been a pleasure to  watch their children grow up and turn into adults.

I remember the day I was working around the house and I got a text from Michelle (Rachael’s mom) asking, “Are you available for a wedding in February?”. I immediately messaged back and asked “Is this your way of telling me that Rae is engaged?!” She laughed and said no, but that Austin had talked to them about it and the event was inevitable.

I remembered Rachael’s Sunday school class and how those precious girls would drink in the lessons shared with them. How they would giggle about the boys in the classroom across the hall. I thought about how God weaves this perfect map of our lives, and brings us to the one He has for us.

At the session at Old Salem, I of course met Austin, and I could immediately see the love he has in his heart for Rachael. He watched out for her as they walked the un-level cobblestone streets of Old Salem and held her hand like he held a treasure. I am so thankful that God brought these two to this special place in life.

Congrats Rachael & Austin! I can’t wait for your beautiful February wedding.
