Not only was I mesmerized by the architecture of the house, the decor and floral inside, but the staff was incredible! They were so kind and attentive to the needs of every guest at the wedding, and they were concerned about my comfort as well. I love it so much I got married one week before Christmas! Back then, I was not involved in the wedding industry, so I didn't have a good eye for incorporating Christmas into a wedding. They had cute little bride and groom outfits and were the perfect addition to hot coffee and cocoa on a cold evening. Every time I have been, I have been impressed with the professionalism of the staff. Their attention to detail is wonderful! They made sure the bride had everything she needed, assisted with problems that came up, and were always smiling and had good attitudes! I really enjoyed working with them. ## The Stables at Hunter Valley Farm Most of the events I have been to were at the Stables . Being a horse lover and ex-rider, I love the equestrian motif. The idea of making seating areas from old stalls is so unique! I always feel like I have walked onto the set of Secretariat. You can even see kick marks on the wall from the horse's hooves! It's become a lot more popular for barns and ranches to be used in weddings. They are a great place to host a wedding. Kyle & Ashely were just the sweetest couple, and their story is so sweet as well! # Wedding Venue The Spring House is a renovated 1920's home in downtown Winston Salem . If you've been following our Facebook page or this blog, you know that we instantly fell in love with the venue and staff during Kyle & Ashley's wedding. Subsequently, we did a styled shoot  there not long after. When Robin contacted me to take photos there, I eagerly accepted! ### John & Robin John and Robin are a sweet couple in the Research Triangle Park area. Both lovers of baseball, finding a venue for their engagement session was not difficult. Robin coordinated the shoot with the staff at the Durham Bulls, who accept and schedule shoots frequently. The Gray Gables website states: “Gray Gables was established in 1898 by Mr. Henry Clay Brittain. He named the home Gray Gables after his late uncle who fought in the Civil War. The Brittain's were a very prosperous family in the Summerfield area. They also owned the local mercantile store which is currently the Summerfield Town Hall. Their love of adventure and the outdoors has really been a foundation for their sweet relationship. ## The Story I met Jess several years ago while working as a nurse in the Emergency Department. Jess was the sweetest, most compassionate nurse I encountered. Always with patients' needs first, she was a wonderful nurse. Fast-forward a couple of years. Jess emailed me stating she was engaged and wanted engagement photos . I was ecstatic! I knew whoever Jess had chosen to spend life with must be an incredible man. Joey turned out to be just that. It was evident in the way he treated Jess throughout our engagement shoot that he cares so deeply for her. Their love radiated on their faces. ### The Engagement Session Choosing Cades Cove in the Great Smoky Mountains was a perfect choice for them. The hotel was abuzz with the excitement of the day. As I entered the Ready or Knot dressing room where Jessie was preparing for the day, I felt an uncommon calm about the room that I don't usually feel the day of the wedding. Usually there's a lot of scurrying around with many finalizing details of the day--not Jessie. She was sitting back enjoying the moments as they happened around her, and the anticipation of what was to come. Brittany Crowder  was busily working to enhance the beauty of the bridesmaids--her work is stunning by the way! The dresses from Myline's Bridal lined the windows setting the perfect backdrop. Everyone was happy and relaxed--exactly how every wedding day should be, in my opinion. We quickly got to work on pictures and getting Jessie ready for her big day! After a quick trip from Proximity to Greensboro College  in a London Taxi, (and reading a sweet note from Bryce!... --- ## Yacht Wedding URL: https://redboat-photography.com/yacht-wedding/ Kyle and Ashley's story began several years ago. Ashley writes: "we met while attending Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Va. We were both in the School of Business majoring in Business Management. We met through a mutual friend. We went out on a group date and have been inseparable ever since. We are very different in many ways but it's almost like our differences compliment each other like yin and yang." Kyle & Ashley's day began seasonally warm with a salty coastal breeze. Tiny ripples in the water caused the sailboats to bob in the harbor. Sunshine glinted off the blue water as the clouds softly sailed by overhead. Ashley prepared for her wedding day in the hull of a beautiful 80' yacht . I'm a little biased because I think all wedding days are beautiful for what they represent, but the weather and lighting was just unreal! The only thing shining brighter than the sun was Thomas's face when Rachele walked down that aisle, arm in arm with her loving father. I love the way that Thomas and Rachele showed honor to Thomas's mother who had recently passed away after a strong fight against cancer. The single red roses that were carried by the bridal party, and placed in a special vase, silently, but strongly emphasized her memory would live on. A lot of couples initially think I shoot movies, or wedding films. Nope. It's old-school film! The type our parents or grandparents used when we were kids.  I remember going to CVS and picking up my prints, so excited to see how they turned out. I was 11 at the time. Having a film camera around was like second nature. Then as I turned into a teenager and tried to be cool in front of my peers, the film camera went away. Then came college and nursing school. All nursing students know you have zero life while in school! So I quickly forgot about taking pictures. Then, school faded away and I got my first nursing job. Even her father's cufflinks were a sweet surprise from Jenny, vowing she would "Always (be) your little girl". She gave sweet kerchiefs to her mother and grandmother for all their "happy tears"! But when it's the proposal of another creative, the pressure definitely goes up! Knowing that Isaac, film editor for the University of Tennessee Athletics, would catch any mistake I might make behind the camera, definitely had me sweating bullets. Along with the 95 degree weather! Nonetheless, Isaac & Emma's Knoxville surprise proposal went off without a hitch. This surprise proposal was a difficult feat to pull off for Isaac. Having to put the proposal off an extra two weeks due to quarantine was definitely nerve wracking. But I truly feel the night could not have been more perfect for his surprise proposal at Lakeshore Park in Knoxville, TN. Under the guise of a socially-distant get together with friends, Isaac brought Emma to Lakeshore Park. They strolled down the hill with the beautiful Tennessee River and mountains on the horizon. Another element that made this wedding unique was the fact that the groom, Sam, is my brother. It truly was such an honor to be a part of his & Holly's wedding. Next was the first look with Maria's father. This beautiful hallway inside Washington Duke Inn was perfect. The best light, the best leading lines, and a beautiful moment with a bride and her father. Onto Duke Chapel we went. Maria had the perfect chic transportation for the day: a classic Jaguar! It made for the most beautiful photos. Next we captured groomsmen photos. After much planning, this super sweet couple decided to go back to Sydney's hometown in California for their nuptials. After arriving back in Knoxville, Sydney felt something was missing. It didn't take long for her to figure out what that was; photos with their four-legged baby of course! They contacted me about capturing the special moments with their horse. Knowing how sweet Logan & Sydney are, I jumped at the chance to photograph them again. I was also super stoked because the leaves were peak here in Knoxville that week and the thought of photographing them and their beautiful horse in a field surrounded by trees sounded awesome. And it SO WAS! I met Logan and Sydney at the farm and quickly got started capturing the stunning foliage as the sun began dropping in the West.... --- ## Lowndes Grove Wedding Charleston, SC URL: https://redboat-photography.com/lowndes-grove-wedding/ With the Ashley River in the background on a warm Summer's day, Adam and Shannon were wed on the grounds of Lowndes Grove Plantation. The smell of salty air permeated the coastal air as the Spanish moss swayed in the Lowcountry breeze. The couple chose to have an intimate gathering, attended only by close friends and immediate family. Included in the close group was NASCAR driver and Daytona 500 winner, Trevor Bayne, who escorted the mother of the groom. Shannon's choice of blush colored blooms and soft details were contrasted with the deep greens of the Live Oaks, salty marsh and the Ashley River. Shannon adored the fresh styling by Honeybee Events which invited a relaxed atmosphere with her eclectic mix of romantic elements. The love felt for Adam and Shannon was palpable as the smiles and hugs rarely ceased.
